I made a bulk batch of traditional blacksmiths wax and I thought I would offer some up here.
Its an old recipe and is traditionally used by smiths for sealing off steel/iron and protecting it from the elements. Often people use pure bees wax but its expensive and quite hard to apply and often there is a lot of waste.
This wax is in a paste form and is applied to the hot metal with a cloth or rag, the wax penetrates into the scale and seals off the material and saturates the steel on the outside to protect it. It contains linseed and turpentine so should not me used for implements that are used in food preparation. It also works very well as a wax for wood
Its comes in a solid stainless steel tin with a lid.
300G tin is £10 plus postage
