Black & White Photos from Your Ancestors.

So the recent thread ( http://www.bushcraftuk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=144089 ) on translating the lovely old Swedish Letter has made me think how nostalgic and lovely it is to see such things from our Family Past and how many old Black and White photos have a nice history and Back Story to them.

So if you have any old family photos you wish to share with a back story please post them below.

My Grandfather was a Model Scout and had his photo taken to show how the uniform should be worn.
Later he and his brothers all went to the Great War - all returned but were never the same again.

My Grandfather, Fred on the right, used to drive one of the Tebay "Banking" Locomotives.

Their job was to hook onto Northbound trains to help power them up Shap Bank and assist the brakes of the Southbound trains coming down.

All day up and down the same stretch of track.

Led the local brass band, looked forward to his retirement but didn't quite make it.

My Dad decided that wasn't going to happen to him so he retired early but died at 63 as well.

I decided I wasn't going to work for a living.

Just having fun really and some people pay me for it.

Yes, I've been very lucky so far.

My mother, it would have been her 80th birthday on Sunday just gone but sadly I lost her 14 years ago

The nice thing about this picture is I have the chair she's sat on upstairs in my spare room and the bench is on my patio
