Hi guys.
I would like to make some kind of carved gift for my mothers birthday which is the end of this month. I have recently acquired a crook knife which I've tried out a little (very fun to use!) and have a mora clipper which I have a little more experience with. I don't have any chisels or more specialised tools at my disposal.
So, do you guys have any suggestions on what I could make with a simple bushcraft knife, crook knife and obviously a saw to harvest the wood. Have an axe to split the wood and do more heavy bits of carving too. Obviously, spoons and bowls are an option but I'm trying to think of something a little more "abstract" to add to the possibilities.
I do hope you lot can offer some ideas, would love to actually make something really nice to give her. There's something about something you've made yourself that's so personal and means so much more than a run of the mill gift.
Cheers, Smith
P.s. I loved that "simple wood spirit" thread idea, but I think that may be a little advanced for me at the moment, not to mention I absolutely suck at drawing/carving bodies and faces!
