Birch Tree leaf - is it a herb or a spice ?

I was at a food store the other day and they had birch leaf in the spice rack at the store I have never heard of birch leaf used in this form so I need to know if anyone else knows how it is used is it used like bay leaf ?

No I have never heard of it.

here is the low down on what it can do

I will give it go with some fresh leaves. I would bother buying the tea, it would like buying nettles. Thanks for the heads up.

Traditionally we use it for washing hair, for easing swollen aching joints and as a wash for gunky cuts and grazes. It really makes you piddle though so watch the fluid intakes, it's easy to end up headachy 'cos the sugar/ salt balance gets screwed up.

thanks for that most likely something you would not want to try then if diabetic I will have to keep that bit of info handy if I post about it elsware...
