With a sak for scale. Unfortunately, the first two pics were taken on a cloudy day but the last is brighter:)

I just love that, I can almost taste the gumbo as it leaves the ladle for my bowl!..............A very nice thing indeed..................................atb mac

That is absolutely brilliant! How much practice did it take you to get results like that? I have been carving for about 6 months and my best efforts still look like they were carved by my dog! I'm not impatient just interested to know :).

Thanks everyone:)

I'm actually quite new to carving myself, having started only a couple of years ago, and consider myself to be a complete novice, but I am getting better with time.
Since I do it purely for the enjoyment, I take as much time as I want, without feeling rushed, so slow and careful is what works for me.:)

Looks good, think you are right about taking it slow. If you are carving for enjoyment there is no need to hurry.
