I'm sure that I have found some Birch Bracket fungi close to where I live.

It is growing on a couple of fallen Silver Birch trees. There is loads of the stuff but I didn't have my camera at the time so no pics I'm afraid. Does any-one know any uses for this and would be willing to explain these to me?

As I said I'm pretty sure from looking on the net that it is Birch Bracket, it looks a little like this: http://www.wildyorkshire.co.uk/naturediary/docs/2003/10/27.html second picure down, but there was loads and loads of it. Am I right? Thanks....Stu :)

It also makes good knife strop if cut in to strips and dried and it is a really good coal carrier if you want to move your fire to a new camp with out putting it out.
