Hello!
I've just bitten the bullet and signed up to the forums...Dare I kick off with a possibly daft question?

Have just snaffled a "new" pack, I was wondering if anyone could advise if PLCE side pouches can be attached to it as it lacks zips for them but does have straps?

It's a Cyclops ROC

Do I need special Bergy Bags?

Hope you can help!

Many thanks

In answer to your question, I have no idea, though I guarantee that someone will know!

That apart, hello and welcome to the Forum!

Hello and welcome mooresey.

Don't think the PLCE Bergan side pouches will fit using only the loops, not having zips they'd be inclined to slide about a bit I would think.

I'm pretty sure the Roc used the same side pouches as available for the Berghaus Munro 35, I've got a pair on my Munro. They're really well made have a hard plastic back on them.

Sivermans stock them, look under Munro 35, £25.00 a pair though  .

Cheers, Pete.

I can;t remember if they do or not ? I'm sure the zips were the opposite way round but the straps my marry up okay.

It might be worth giving Endicotts a call as they get quite a few ROCs in.

Hi,

The Cyclops Roc is a great bergen. I had one for about 18 years and it was a sad day when I parted with it. Berghaus made or make pouches which fit both the Roc and the Munro. As stated these have a plastic back to stiffen the pouch and attach via the compression straps via the side of the bergen

PLCE side pouches will fit via the loops on the back of the pouch and using the compression straps on the side of the Bergen. However as mentioned I think they would slide around a bit too much.

The Berghaus Cyclops Crusader was the Roc's larger brother and the Basis for the PLCE army issue bergen and forerunner to the current Berghaus Vulcan .

The crusader had Zip on side pouches which formed a Daysac A La PLCE Bergan.

However the Original Berghaus Zips were some what different to the PLCE version if you try to attach a PLCE side pocket to a Crusader the side pouches fit on upside down and the zip takes a battering.

PLCE side pouches fit fine to the Vulcan.

There was a Berghaus Pack called the Centurion. THis was basically a Roc with permanently sewn on side pouches.

The Roc Crusader and Centurion were available in DPM and Olive Green.

Hope this helps

Cheers

John

Looks like the Munro jobbies! Even at £25 the munro pouches would be good should I ever need more capacity
(The bag only cost £20 and is like new - couldn't bear to let it get away)

Again, many thanks for all your replies!

Shoulda bit that bullet sooner

What a great bunch!

Hi,

I had some for mine and to be honest didn't use em at all. I was organized in the bergen with small ortlieb stuff sacks and the small document pouch in the bergen is good as is the top lid pocket. For stuff you have to get at during the day. I also had a munro and didn't use the side pouches on that either.

Roc pouches come up on Ebay from time to time Not in DPM though that was pretty rare even when new...

The Roc is one tough bit of kit and is a perfect balance between simplicity toughtness and features as you'll get in a Bergen and IMHO better than anything Karrimor or Lowe have produced. Enjoy.....
