Berghaus MMPS pockets...extra straps??

Hi all, recently acquired a lovely Berghaus Centurio 45 at a snip, purchased some of the 10l mmps pockets that have the ability to be a small daysack when zipped together and the supplied shoulder straps added.....however there are two straps supplied that I can’t fathom the use of, pictured below:

They have a loop one end, a buckle connector and a locking? buckle type thing, I’m likely being daft! but what are they for please? Can’t find info or pictures on the internet.

Could they be the ones from the bottom of the shoulder straps to the base of the pockets?

That piece is already attached to the shoulder straps.....

It’s a mystery!!

Perhaps it's for attaching a weapon somehow? Or a helmet???

but this straps are not my first choise - classic packing straps (from savotta) with a metal lock are more ruggedised
