Hi All,

Seeking advice from the hive...just had to chop down a large Berberis tree as it was pushing down a wall. It was about 4M tall and the trunk was about 12 to 15 cm in width. We'd used the berries in gin before but is there anything the wood is useful for?

A magnificent Indian curry house yellow rice pilaf in colour!

I tried it once for knife scales but it lost its colour and split badly - however, I think I could have treated it better before using it (more formal stabilising).

The wood has a soft punky quality about it. I'll stick in on the wood shed and see how it dries and if the amazing colour fades.

Heresy perhaps but is there any problems burning it?
