Belt axe project.

I got a belt axe in a trade a while ago but never got round to using it.

So thought I would have a play

Started like this ( but I made this handle. It had a straight hammer handle when I got it)

This handle failed so the project begun

Head removed

Marked out my cuts

And slowly slowy cut ans shaped

I then sent it off to a member on here as a practice/test piece and this came back

I then put a new handle and leather overstrike and hey presto

I have yet to give it a real chopping test but due to its size it wont be felling pine. The craftsmanship on the decoration is amazing though

Next to a kubben axe for scale

With the combined efforts this is a very nice neat little axe and you've finished the job perfectly.

I have had a good play with this and it seems to chop above its weight. The fat swell on the bottom of the handle really helps grip. And the light head is good and fast
