My replica M65 jacket with quilted (but non-elasticated wrists) liner is fine for normal conditions, but no use below freezing.

In the past I'd buttoned in a pseudo-polarfleece "waistcoat", but the arms were still a little cold and the coat wasn't quite up to standing around in the cold.

The other week I took an old fleece jacket, made some holes for the buttons, buttoned it in and then buttoned the M65 liner inside it.

With a jumper and T shirt underneath, the coat performed brilliantly in the cold snap of last week and over the weekend. Warm and not sweaty.

I had been thinking about buying a winter parka, but this should do for cold weather, albeit without a warm hood and a bit shorter in the cut than a proper cold weather coat.
