That's a shame. But what do other people think about the coke bottle shaped handle and the pommel? Is it usefull? I saw Mick Spain made a knife with this shape. Any comments on this?

I like mine.:)

Gerd made a good job of Gary's design. The handle is comfortable, the blade is well shaped for most of the cutting jobs in the field.Haven't used the pommel for bashing things yet,but it looks up to the job.

The sheath allows for belt dangling and neck wear.

All in all a good package.I'm pleased I stuck out the long wait to get it.

I got one from the first batch to be made, but at the time they were out sourced for HT. It seems mine failed somewhat as the edge rolled over on my first outing, and I was cutting a green stick about finger thickness. I am in touch with Gerd, sent it back to him and he hopes to get the replacement finished within the next few weeks. He now does his own HT so there shouldn't be any troubles with the replacement knife. I've been a long time without it, about a year in fact, but I have other knives and can wait for it. I don't want to be pestering him for it as I know how much of a hard time he has had from the production of this knife. I think he gets little or no joy from making them now. That is a shame.

That's the one I was talking about Mick. What are the benifits of such a handle? The one you made is quite pronounced in it's shape.

PS: I'll let you know about the blade asap.

The shape is very comfortable, in fact if I dont sell it I will use it myself, I have made a couple of others and the owners say they really like them I have never seen a Bearclaw in the real so I dont know how it feels or compares but it gets good comments so must be good
(No probs with the blade)
