...Like you've stepped back in time....Brilliant. Never been to a re-enacting event, but they do look like I could spend all day entertained, just sitting and staring at the detail.

I've held on to my usual pedantry for 3 days... I can't hold it in any more...

The Battle of Hastings... wasn't it the Battle of Battle? The battle site was in Battle rather than Hastings.

I'll get me coat :p

Caldbec Hill is claimed to be the "new" site for the battle but I imagine that William knew where it happened and he had the top sliced off Senlac to build the Abbey. Caldbec was probably the site that Harold designated as a mustering place.
