Bamboo needle case

Got hold of some Bamboo from a job at work today, after making my mate a little container to be used as a cigarette holder, when working in the tree you can place the gig in the container and send it up the tree on his line held by a knot. In the end I made about 4 others, heres the two I made for myself.

This one is used to keep my leatherwork needles together. Bamboo and Beech lid.

This one I used some cordage so it can be worn round your neck.

how waterproof would these be simon, thinking they would make nice match cases, craking little make by the way.

Cheers, Topknot and Aragorn, I think they would make pretty good match cases. The one with the cordage on is going to get used for that purpose, shall see how well it works.

I like the simple lines and being able to see the grain of the bamboo.

What sort of cordage is that grreen stuff?

nice work!
made something like this for my needles couple of years ago, too(lid from a piece of yew). and then spent hours by decorating the container by burning in ornaments with a magnifying glass...before giving it a good coating/soaking of linseed oil.

Inspirational stuff - I'm off to experiment with atlatl dart offcuts...I reckon as how you could do much the same with elder?
