Bahco Hand Axe...

...Any good? I know it's not a GB, or Wetterlings or whatever, but my little axe has gone walkies from my garage and I can't afford a decent one until father christmas comes.
So, given that it seems the edge needs a good sharpening, are they decent tools? I should add that I want to sharpen it on a borrowed bench grinder, sand the handle and get the orange paint off it, and it'll be used for mainly roughing out spoons and so on...

Yes, it's a fine axe and cheaper than the other brands too.

yes, very good and well worth the effort.

unless you damage the HT on a bench grinder

Nice one, thats what I wanted to hear - any grinding advice, as I've never used one before? Dip it in water every few seconds, don't use too much pressure...
oh, and what's the 'HT'?

Heat treatment.

used a flap wheel when I did mine. Didn't get that hot.

I am not a big fan on the axes, but if that is what you have, you can certainly put it to use. You will most likely need to reprofile the bit.
