Wherever I choose to live.
An old axe I found and knocked the handle out of has ridges inside the eye, preventing me from getting a new handle on. Does anyone have any ideas of how to rehandle it? I can't seem to get one in. It's a really old one, with no brand, so I can't buy a new one.

Vertical ridges or horizontal ridges?

I would have thought vertical ridges could be solved with some nifty carving and a bit more thwack. ;)

if not a round file would do it.

It may be that the ridges are there to grip the wood and keep the handle in place once the wedge is fitted. Make the handle a little smaller and the wedge a little bigger perhaps?
