Gents I was given this little axe/hatchet by a work mate.
No history or markings, it is small.
Coin of the Realm for size.
Any thoughts

looks like a great little axe to me use it and enjoy it. Just make sure the handle is secure.

It's a hatchet... also known as a chopper, occasionally a hand axe or a bill. The pattern is typically called the 'American pattern' but there's plenty of names for them. Without a makers mark or anything else to qualify it, it's just a small axe. It looks like it's been fitted with a hammer handle, so the adive above about checking it for tightness is very good!
