Other than on a SAK, leon has an answer - a leatherworking establishment.

Then there are metal-working awls, wood-working awls and ice-picks.

I have them that I made from a large nail, deer bone, and some very hard wood.

Where oh where does one find an awl?

cheers,

If you mean for leather stitching then le Prevo leathers is the best shot. Or batchelors if your in N London. Also Tandy do mail order from America and theres always E Bay.
If you mean for bushcraft projects like birch bark containers etc then all you need is an old screwdriver and a file/grindstone/beltsander etc. just file three flats at the tip end going up the shaft afo 2-3cms so the end is a tapering triangle. this is actually a broach (since its tapered) but it will do fine for crafts. If you can take a look at RMs last dvd when he's making the canoe you will see what i mean in the hands of Pinoc the candian when he is lacing the gunwhales.
