Thought I’d share a few more random pics of autumn from the river gorge and a pretty chilled out hawk.
The first pics are from a short hike up to a shelter rock that I like to sit under and meditate. It’s one that has a little water fall beside it and little stream running beside it, but both get larger after heavy rains. We’ve had some really nice colors this autumn.
The only gear other than a camera and a walking stick.
Then these are shots from down in the river gorge. Some more nice colors to see, and a chilled out Coopers Hawk that didn’t mind having his picture taken quite a few times. He landed in a tree near me in a clearing, then flew away for a bit.
Then he came back again.
Mocking birds have some balls, because this little guy kept bugging the crap out of the hawk and then just flew away.
Then the hawk sat there a few, then relocated himself to a higher limb and continued to observe the grassy meadow. Watching him sort of hop up to the higher limb was pretty cool.
Then when the time was right off it went into the meadow. It was really cool watching the hawk do a near 180 degree turn on a dime right on top of his prey. It was at a distance and a blur of motion when it caught its prey and the pictures of it flying off sucked, but it looked like it caught a small field mouse. Not something you get to observe every day so I thought it was pretty cool.
