Attempting to finish my first knife

Hi Folks,
finally got round to registering & made my first knife today(pics to follow).

Started with some 01 ground flatstock, got 2 knives out of it (one still in process).

Forged & hardened.

Handled using elm.

Now here's the stumbling block - what do I seal it with? (the handle).

Also need to have an attempt at a sheath for it.

Actually made it for SWMBO for when she attends my hunting forays, the one I had earmarked for myself may actually change shape bit.

Thanks for looking & hopefully helping folks.

Boiled linseed is good. Myself I just use Bri-wax. Leaves a lovely finish and is easy to re-apply with fine steel wool :)

For a first attempt that's fine mate :) Did you use a grinder or filing by hand ?
BTW photobucket works great for me ;)

Not much filing to do on the steel so used a progression of files.
On the handle I used file & paper, still going at it.

Dreading making the sheath!!
