Everything you wanted to know about atlatl (spearthrowers) but were too afraid to ask……
There will be a spearthrowing event run by Phil Brown’s Badger Bushcraft in Kent. The event will be taking place in September on a date to be confirmed.
More details can be found here
http://www.badgerbushcraft.com/competitions/atlatl-competition-2011.htm

There will be the opportunity to hone your throwing skills and swap ideas about making darts and throwers. Events like this are the best way to develop ones skill and craft. Neal Matheson will be offering accuracy clinics drawing on his years of experience with the weapon.
There will also be the chance to take part in an international competition (ISAC) and see how you compare against throwers from around the world.

Phil Brown has been establishing an excellent reputation for his bushcraft skills and courses he has been interested in making and throwing atlatl for several years Hi enthusiasm for the atlatl will ensure that the course is run to the highest level of professionalism.

Neal Matheson has been interested in Primitive technology for as long as he can remember. He Fell in love with the atlatl about eight years ago, and has developed his skills to become one of the most accurate throwers in the world. He is bewilderingly zealous in his determination to get the “word” out about the weapon and demonstrates and teaches all over the UK and competes internationally.
No experience is required but making spearthrowers will not be part of the course (there should be some loaners though). An ideal course for those with who have taken their first bites and want to know more or those with a general interest.
