So, Brexit limits us to 90 days so a shorter trip and this winter its La Bella Italia.
Stop one, a month in Tuscany, just south of Florence. I am cutting firewood and building a wall, plus the inevitable rescue of old neglected tools, Jules is ironing, bed changing etc.
Gotta say that working in a t shirt in the sun beats November in Bradford.

Coming to the end of our time here, plan to move on for a month off in Rome on 1 Dec, subject to Covid, watch this space.
Two days a week off cor a month and we have not even begun to get a comprehensive grip on Florence, so much great art in so small a space. And the light, don’t get me started on the light…..

We use workaway.info and have been very happy with it for a few years, its about thirty bucks a year for a couple and the range is ridiculous. You have people who want “teach me Linux version ….” To more general language help, especially for kids, childcare, and gardening which is where we tend to go.
basic deal is five hours a day five days a week for board and lodging but the detail varies, for instance we are living in a nice self contained wooden hut with electricity, hot water etc, our host gives us food for breakfast, we have lunch together and we can get food from her for supper, in reality we buy our own but we are older and like to do that to try local stuff, you could live here free. Im doing about four hours a day but I do work like a horse if I say so myself, and its heavy stuff like walling and chainsawing and our host is fine with that, she realises I think that it aint safe going beyond that. Tired makes bad decisions and thats not good with a chainsaw !
Feel free to pm me if you need more information.

A few more shots of Rome, nowt at all crafty but art has been a love of mine all my adult life, along with the outdoors, so to see these things that Ive read about, and in some cases written essays about, is a life enhancing thing for me. Plus the combination of winter and Covid makes everywhere very quiet, we had the Vatican picture collection almost to ourselves, and they dont come any better than that.
A few pics to give some idea.

Its half an hour away, the Sacra di St Michele, where they filmed the Name of the Rose. Some first class fresco and other art in there and astounding views of the Piedmontese hills.4EF99F52-0D5C-4443-B9CB-0E525FD67CA9.jpeg
