Ash Hurdles

Took a small Ash tree (approx 6" diameter) down on Sunday as it had been toppled by the storm and was just being held up by the branches of neighbouring trees, and rather than just saw it, stack it up and let it rot, i put it to good use by making a couple of hurdles, the small one is approx 18" high and the larger one is around 3ft high, all riven wood that was trimmed and tidied up on the shave horse.

Next time I see those old "Out of town" dvd's in a garden centre somewhere I think I'll have to splash out on them. I've fond memories of watching them with my dad.

Yup, he did it specially for Jack and it was a real delight to watch it being made.

Nails are nothing special, just what i had in the tin, they are clinched over on the rear in the traditional manner
