Apprenticeships??

Hello

I'm a 17year who's currently looking for an apprenticeship within the greenwood/traditional craft world, if anybody knows of any apprenticeships within this area or similar to it could you please let me know??

While you are looking, I suggest enrolling on carpentry courses at your local college.

I found quite a few joinery apprenticeships when I looked, definitely worth considering. A lot of apprenticeships just aren't that useful though, especially IT ones which just seem to be an excuse to employ cheap labour. I doubt you'd find something as specialised as traditional crafts.

My apprenticeship covered carpentry, joinery and wood machining.... sadly they have dumbed down the whole thing into one or the other in an attempt to make the roles "specialist" which is complete pants.
Try to get an apprenticeship in any one of those fields but keep an open mind and try to learn from anyone willing to pass on their skills, listening and asking questions are a huge part of that and the skills are all transferable to different woodworking tasks, so a foothold in one part may help you later.
Consider approaching any local companies who do timber framing (the old style, not the factory kit houses where none of the timber is ever seen after completion) if you find a company that looks like it fits the bill do not let a rejection letter stop you, pitch up and try to get an interview (early in the morning works best as it shows you're not lounging in bed 'till midday) take any photo's of woodworking projects you have done with you too, I took a stool I made at school to the interview that won my apprenticeship and over the years photo's of staircases I have made have opened doors.

How about an Estate management course
I work for a college in Warwickshire and we run these courses at Moreton Morrell campus
They cover things like tree surgery , hedge laying , fencing and conservation some of the students are looking to work foe The National Trust or Wildlife Trusts which may give you an alternative approach

Your 17 your still very young as said before do an apprenticeship in carpentry or cabinet making. In my apprenticeship i done cabinet making. I have done wood machining spray paint carpentry and joinery kitchen manufacturing and fitting. Get with a good company learn as mush as you can don't be afraid to as questions. And as was said before drop your CV into whoever you would like to work for early in the morning be their before they open it shows your interested. And when you get your apprenticeship NEVER EVER MISS A MONDAY FROM DRINK. I am nearly 40 now i have make all the mistakes worked in loads or places if someone came to me before i opened with a CV theirs a 99% chance he or she would get a job. Oh and another thing do plenty of research on the company you would like to work with as in what they do and what they are about. Also do up a good CV one that stands out from the rest also make something and make it well to bring to an interview it don't have to be something big, small stool even a few well made joints.
