Eating spoon in apple wood, faceted handle, gentle crank and a mix of sanded, scraped and off the knife finish, I resorted to a bit of sanding as there was a troublesome bit of grain that just wouldn't behave.

Yup, it does age well and takes on a beautiful patina, I know i have no Apple left, but i do have a nice length of Cherry outside, not sure how good it is though as it's been sat waiting for me for a couple of years now, the heartwood should still be good though - fingers crossed.Oh, nice
Apple wood is lovely stuff.
The distaff on my oldest spinning wheel, dated accurately to the mid 1700's, is apple wood and it's beautiful.
