Hi All,
Does anyone have a contact/link for where you can get campfire blankets (sometimes called badge blankets)? I'm looking for the woolen ones, have found a few places selling fleece but that just won't do.

Our very new scouts won the County Shield two weeks ago and we'd like to reward them with a present.

Ideally we are looking for the ones that have a head hole or slit rather than just a complete blanket. Would also be great if we could choose the colours.

Have tried searching through Google but haven't found anything that looks right yet.

Thanks,
Mal

A local material shop sells woollen material off the roll at about £5 per meter. I'll admit that it doesn't have a head hole (and personally I prefer it like that) but it wouldn't take long to cut and make good any edges - and make them whatever size you need. Patterns are very simple tartans but great for around the camp-fire.

Good old Army Blankets work well:

Mine from the 70's and early 80's had a curtain liner for extra warmth and large black woolen Blanket stitch around the edges and the slit in the middle for my head.

Seen better days but still brings back fond memories...
