Good news lads I've got a small field sorted
1/2 mile from brough farmer ok to use it.

Only rules are

No mess
no music
we need to make/use a fire pit or leave no burn marks on grass.

We give him as a group a bottle of whisky :)

Top job! Dunno how I missed this before.

Sounds fair and sensible - I've got an old car wheel firebase I use in the garden, I'm pretty sure I can lay hands on something a little larger if that would do for the start of a fire pit?

We give him as a group a bottle of whisky :)
Wicked - that shouldn't be too taxing :)

That's great that your free :)

Thank you for the kind offer but I work most weekend so cannot attend the Manchester meet. :-(
but I am sure I will learn loads from you guys :)

What time do you all want to meet up?
Also can we all bring bit of fire wood (what's the best way of not burning fire rings in my freinds field)
Regarding food do you all share or bring your own? (local store in brough & good chippy in brough too)
I can source water and i can dispose of any rubbish at work

There's no trees for hammocks so tent or tarps

Anything else I am missing??

Also there is a very good pub 1/2 mile up the road ( spare parking )

I've got approx a VW Golf bootful of Leylandii that's been seasoning in my back yard for a couple of years - I'll bring as much of that as I can fit in.

Raise the fire off the ground is the best way not to burn the field - alternatively cut and peel the turf back, drop in some paving slabs, burn on the slabs, clear the fire when done, remove slabs, re-lay turf - but that's a lot of work just for a night! I'll see if I can lay hands on a 20 litre veg oil drum we can cut in half and use as a firebox (or 2) restaurants usually bin the things. Kelley kettles or hobo stoves with a firebox/slab works too.

I'm confused Barry.
Is it the 21st or the 27th?
I know I'm not around for the 21st but the 27th might be possible.
Cheers , Simon

I thought that was the case and have confirmed with swmbo that we are indeed
in Manchester for the weekend. Shame , as I suspect you may be near my old
stamping ground. I grew up in Warcop a couple of miles away.
Have a great weekend folks and I'll try and make it next time.
Cheers Simon
