Does anybody have a pair of Salomon Cosmic 4D GTX boots ? They're not really rufty tufty bushcrafters boots but more for hitting the hills and trails.

Just looking for experiences, in particular how well they're holding up after a few months of heavy use. They claim to have ballistic nylon whatever that is but I've never owned a pair of fabric boots so not sure what to expect.

They look like an expensive pair of gimmicky boots! But thats just my personal opinion and in no way an attack on your personal judgement! Each to their own & all that!

Reckon they should live up to their reputation as a good maker Rich.

The only fabric boots I used a lot were Karrimors (10 or more years ago) and never managed to bust them in any way.

I was looking at similar things too Michael, namely the Inov8 Terrocs. I might still try a pair when it warms up but I ended up going for a mid boot this time, it's a step away from my usual full leather boot so I'll see how I go on. I went into Ellis Brigham today to try a few different pairs on and get an idea of manufacturers fit, they're too expensive to buy from there but the staff have good knowledge. I went for the Salomon Fastpacker Mid GTX from Field & Trek for only £66, not had confirmation of stock yet but hopefully they've got them in.

I'm planning to get back up to the Lakes a lot more this year, I miss the high camps and lightweight trekking, if you ever fancy a night out let me know.

I'll be in touch Rich. I start my new job near home at the end of April so I'll be getting out on the fells a couple of times a week on my way home from work. I've got to get some mileage in to get fit again, and being sat behind a desk for long hours for the last two years has caused bit of expansion.

I've got a week off between jobs and I'll be heading north with the canoe on the car from the 18th to the 22nd if you're available.

Cheers, Michael.

I'll check my diary but as far as I know April is pretty clear, I'll let you know.

Any idea where you're heading ?
