Any uses for this shrub?

Hi You Guys,
Earlier today on my travels i saw a homeowner trimming his garden of Buddleia shrubs. Some of the pieces are about 70mm in diameter.
To me the trunks look similar to elder (with the centre pith)
Anyway it seemed a shame to see it go to waste and he said i could take what i liked so i was wondering if anyone had used this timber for any projects at all? (I haven't actually collected it yet in case I couldn't use it)

If you can get a straight piece, 3/8" to 1/2" dia about 2 feet long - it might make a passable hand-drill spindle when dry!

I thought a lot of foraging was about making use of plants that are are referred to by many people as weeds!!

errr do you class garden waste as foraging ? ...... more recycling i would say. great for butterflys and thats about it...... burn it !!! lol

its very good as a had drill if you use it in a socket on the end of a nice striaght drill.

If there are any thin live sprigs take a few cuttings to grow on and plant in your garden it acts like a magnet to butterflies, hover flies etc. They will sort out your aphids
