I was very fortunate to inherit a lovely old Tilley lamp from my Grandfather. Sadly it has been put out of reach of my vandal of a son now he is a little older I would like to get it going again but sadly the mantle disintegrated when I picked it up.

Back home in Norwich i would know where to go but now I based in Southampton I am clueless and hoped someone might be able to know what type I need and maybe recommend an online emporium that may be able to supply me with a batch of replacements?

I have attached some pictures if anyone can help

Many thanks all

Also check the leather/rubber seal on the plunger. They will perish if the lamp is stored for a long time. May even be worth getting a service kit, fairly easy to do.

That's an X246B lamp you have there. As the others said, ebay or Base-camp.co.uk for mantles. Get a few Tilley 164H happy mantles or 164X or basecamp does their own Pro brand which are good.
In a pinch, any mantle that you can get to fit will work but there will be one type that performs best and it's a case of buying different types and finding out if your that way inclined, but the Happy mantles are a good bet.

i feel compelled to add that pre-heating with the meths burner should take a good 5 minutes,so many folk dont and just get black smoke and flame bellowing out!
