Antler bits and bobs

Had some antler pieces left after making up some keyrings for a mate. Used the large bit as a bearing block for a bowdrill spindle and the smaller bits for some more keyrings.

I found a roe deer antler washed up on the beach this winter, that's just asking to made into something like this

you give me some ideas- found some sika deer antlers last winter and been asking myself what to do with them....

once i made a bearing block from a piece of antler i found in NZ but it was too soft and the drill wore into the block...

That was just the natural colour of the antler mate.
To answer the previous questions ...I used a 10mm drill to start the hole and finished it off with a knife making sure to leave a good shoulder for the spindle . If you go too far yes the spindle will eat into the softer and pourous inner.
