The fact that One should feel the need to find an alternative; watered-down description of an interest must, surely, be a concern – if not a wake-up call as to where we are with non mainstream interests in 2006?

Last night I wrote a 2000 word reply to a post referring to the dumming-down of the Scout movement but even I will never now post it for fear of being carted off the site in a deer trolley! I don’t like myself for that so guess I sympathise with your predicament – if that’s what it is.

Just a thought

Cheers

You could use primitive skills, but it sounds a bit Ug to me and even though it may be primitive to modern standards, it was very effective back then and the pinnacle of living skills. Sorry, don't wanna insult the cave men!

Woodcraft may imply chopping trees down willy nilly, so may not help you out. How about calling it "Getting back to basics"? It would be easily understood and doesn't sound like a bunch of sad wierdos sitting in the woods carving spoons, erm, which is what I tend to do!! :lmao:

Outdoor living? Traditional skills? I have given up on most names now for what I do, I simply tell people I'm going camping but without a tent and leave it at that!

"P***ing about in the woods" ? :D

I had a group over for venison BBQ a few weeks ago, we were sitting out on the lawn eating our fill when one of the guys asked where the privy was. I said pick a tree. That apparently was not good enough for him so I said first door on the right and pointed toward the house.

After he went in I said to the group, There's something wrong with folks that eat on the ground and P*** in the house! :lmao:

My kids enjoy outdoor p***ing so much they run outside to do it!
