Another Landrover question

Rather than hi jack a thread I thought I'd start another one to keep things simple

Our Lad has a Discovery van, its really just a disco with no rear windows.
Anyway, its a 300 TDI, and the fuel injection pump is goosed.

He's been quoted some silly prices, so does anyone have any idea where to pick one up at reasonable cost or even a trade?

hmm them pumps do tend to be expensive.. maybe you could pick up a breaker disco for its bits or just a engine off fleabay?

Anything up to £395 secondhand

there were a couple for around the £50-£60 mark earlier in the year but he missed those.

I think he spoke to someone who had one for £150 or so but that had come from a vehicle fire and one of the mounting lugs was melted

A reliable place I've used is Famous Four, in Louth Lincolnshire, they do New and used parts, mail order too, and have always been very helpful. (No connection, other than good business)

My question is....Is it broken physically? If not the proper way to go is by sending it to a Diesel injection pump repair speciaist to get it re-conditioned. I'm not familiar with your part of the world so I can't help there.
You will then be certain that the pump is in good order. I remember £250 being a rough charge for this service.
An opportunity to change the cam belt too!

I originally thought it was a lift pump that was boogied ( apx £30)

The injection pump is a TOTALLY different beastokenest:
