I use artist's acrylic ink. I goes on leather beautifully and doesn't rub off. Then I rub neutral boot polish all over with a soft cloth and buff to a shine.

No, I haven't had time. It'll look better in use rather than looking like a long stick tapered at both ends. I'll have it up at the Loch Tay meet next week and someone can take a photo then.
