Angry about botched watch repair.

I've had an Uzi protector watch for about 3 years. This is my everyday and camping watch as its just about bomb proof.
A superb watch with tritium illumination on hands and 3,6,9 and 12 markers. Its very accurate, comfortable and with my para cord bracelet, suits my needs.
However, after some rough use and hard knocks, the crystal got scratched and started to form condensation on inside after being in shower.
It was taken to a local watch repairs who supposedly repaired it and replaced glass, and tested it to 200m all for £35. This was a farce as it took over a week to be done after promising 24h service.

Just come out of shower to find condensation and actual liquid under the glass.

Like I say this is a superb watch and would recommend one to anyone without hesitation, but I'm in a rage about this guy ripping me off with a botched repair.

I'll make sure that its rectified tomorrow.

The liquid is visible at the bottom. This isn't shadow it is liquid.

In the woods if possible.
A great shame that, I'm always sorry to see good kit damaged by ham-fisted work. Let us know how you get on.

Have you had to change the battery before all this? I'm asking because the makers of most of these waterproof watches seem to say that the seals should be replaced at the same time in order to retain the waterproofing. Years ago I bought a bunch of seals from Germany for a few Euros. There were hundreds of different ones all in one pack. I've only used a few, and I'll never use most of them because they don't fit anything I or my family and friends have, but whatever I paid for the pack was well worth it just for the few seals I've used.

Anyway, if you'd changed the battery and not the seal then that might possibly have been the reason for the misting that you saw at first.

Personally I wouldn't want to risk having serious work done on something like that for cosmetic reasons.

Badger. Its a little place in castleford indoor market. Steer well clear mate.

Ged. I took the rear off myself in the past, but I replaced the seal, it was seated correctly too. The condensation only began after the glass cracked. Swmbo was worried radiation might leak out at the time as I'd kidded her on that the tritium was a gas inside, and not in the vials .

I had a watch shop in newcastle Emlyn mess a watch up, I supplied the new glass because the old one had broken, he returned it with bits still on the face and he'd cracked the edge of the new glass when putting it in, rubbish and then he was dismissive about it... It's horrid when you've got a decent bit of kit that other people don't' respect or have the skill to work with.

The watch wasn't particularly expensive, in fact it was quite cheap, that however is not the point. It is my watch that was entrusted to someone who should have been able to repair it.
I hope he isn't dismissive about this, its a brilliant watch.

I was a little unhappy about the situation. It was a £400 watch so lost my head with him. Ended up being escorted from the building after telling him i was gonna do something rather nasty to him.

I got a little vexed myself (putting it mildly), in the end had to send swmbo to collect it, when he eventually 'repaired' it. I shall be there tomorrow.

Angry looking man with bald head, bushcraft beard and handlebar moustache. Wouldn't want to be him. :lmao:

Any engineer or crafts person can have a bad day, its the way they deal with the situation afterwards that makes the ejit or not.
