Angler's Bivvy as shelter?

With a couple of forraged sticks, you can even have a porch. 
The carp boys have really raised their game when it comes to kit. Only problem can sometimes be the price.

Im hoping to have a fire outside the bivvy.
I make a frame by twisting 8 whippy pieces of hazel together.
That is looking very nice! I am a carp angler and i have a Kevin Nash Titan Viper, tested by windforce 10 and still standing!
The problem is the weight and the volume, not an issue however when traveling by canoe.

Carp are regarded as "specimen" fish and can grow to a great size and age, even in the relatively cold waters of the UK. I think the UK record is around 50lbs. They're also regarded as being very cunning and intelligent (the Carp - not the anglers

It can be, but it has changed a lot in recent years.
The carp boys really pushed the technology forwards (for general course fishing) and the old expensive brands got some competition.
The big catalogues do some very good deals on things, but you can still get second hand from small local retailers.
Nothing wrong with keeping it simple though - my first fish was caught using some freelined bread (squeezed around a hook) and using another bit of bread as a bobbin. I still use the rod today.
