Interesting reading... The smock looked like it'd be nice and warm for sure.

The arrowhead was good as well... looking at it, it appeared to have been ground from stone rather than knapped

Yeah :D
Imagine that a bit longer, and I've made four of them this week :D
Himself's 'hoodies' are just that same style of shirt with a hood added; very comfortable, very practical, and obviously of very long provenance :D

Thank you for the link :D

cheers,
M

The arrow head does look ground - I have ground several from slate myself and they work well (but do not last long) and are quick to make.
In my area there is next to no flint but loads of good slate and - lets face it - you use what you have got!.
As to the smock - I have one just like it (but newer and less raggy) and I love it. It is warm and suggly and even fairly waterproof (at least it takes ages or the water in it to feel wet) and great over linen :)

Sorry for the muddle as I combined the two threads
My only excuse is that I'm a bit distracted making bramble jam and chutney.

Skaukraft ? you don't have any more details of the find do you ? Sizes and cut, (the shoulders 'look' as though they're slightly fitted) and the weave of the woollen cloth ?

cheers,
M
