Amazon MP3 Download

Quick question for those that use Amazon...

If you buy an Mp3 download instead of a CD, can you download it and listen to it independently from amazon? Or is it forever tied up with your amazon account?

Seem to remember with film downloads you can only watch them through amazon.

I found the music off Amazon Music to be a right faff if I was using an Android device to download it. This was music files I'd paid for mind.
However I could download it onto a PC then transfer files over onto my phone and could play it without Bezos sticking his oar in for blackmaile style repeat payments on music I'd paid to own.

I'm an Apple user and read an article saying the only way that you can legally own the music youve bought is to buy through iTunes.

I must get to bed, but I'll try and find out some more tomorrow. I know I had The Gentlemen film from Amazon and it disappeared from my library (only 3 things in there, and it was definitely gone. Thinking I'd made a mistake I went to buy it again and was told I'd already purchased it. So, no idea where it went, and I cant repurchase because I already have it. Infuriating!
