Am I carrying too much gear.

  • BushMoot: Come along to the amazing Summer Moot 31st July - 5th August (extended Moot : 27th July - 8th August), a festival of bushcrafting and camping in a beautiful woodland PLEASE CLICK HERE for more information.
Slightly OT but related.

How far from closest road can one get in England/Scotland/Wales? That does affect what redundancy or emergency equipment one needs. (In Lapland I can easily be 25 clicks from nearest road, I take that into account mostly.)

This list is for weekends.
For longer trips a would pack on a different way, and choose different items. As you can imagine from the list, this is for stealth camping wich is not allowed in my country.
However, the dutch MOD ( ministery of defence) made some locations in the woods wich are strictley reserved for veterans they are called "Rose Locations" .
This is an open shelther with a fire place on military training ground where one could stay for 72 hours. they are made for veterans who want to take some time of in nature.

For shorter trips, hikes etc. i take a 35 liter rucksack with the same stuff in it except the bulky sleepingbag. I take only the bivaque sack from the sleeping bag ,again poncho and bungies and four tent stakes.
With the poncho i ll take a " wooby " wich also enables me to sleep sitting up, under and against a tree if it is not possible to ly down. Poncho, the hood and the headnet protects me from the critters at night and cover me . Food wise 24 hour rations and extra water.
