I primarily use an HW100 for hunting which has proven to be excellent. You don't need a high shot count and I simply top it up with a few strokes from the hand pump before I go out - easily done - no bottles. 14 shot mag plus a silencer means that you don't scare off the local rabbit population at the first volley - surprising how often a quick, subtly loaded back up shot comes in useful.

I use springers as well for hunting but in most peoples hands they are going to be less accurate (because of the the recoil) which is fine just limits your reliable killing range in the field a tad more.

IMO the good old springers are the best! Nice and traditional,

actually Precharge predate springers having been around sincethe 15th century and where used for hunting big game and even for War where the shooters where normally executed if caught as they where considerred unsporting in war due to no flash, bang n smoke
so if you want tradition PCP is the way :D

Well, thats plan "A" out the window.

I have just spent the afternoon on the ranges of our local club and tried a few members rifles. Having only ever used springers in the past, I am now well and truly converted to PCP rifles.

I now have to save up a bit more to get a PCP and all the charging gear! SWMBO says I have to sell a kidney to fund it all! :lmao:

My four penneth is go for a multi shot PCP. I made the jump from an old HW80 to a Logun S-16 last summer and haven't looked back since.

The only problem is the air issue, I picked up a second hand dive bottle with a couple of years test left very reasonably.

The benefits far outweigh the downsides. It is quiet, outstandingly accurate and a pleasure to use.

I use a bipod with it and it has proved an excellent target and hunting weapon.

IMO the good old springers are the best! Nice and traditional, less to go wrong and cheaper most of the time. I have both and find the CO2 or pre-charged rifles great fun for plinking, etc. But for me you can’t go far wrong with a spring. Have a look at Airarms, a good British make. I have a Pro sport but the TX200 rifles are great too.

Ooooh, I dunno! If the seals went on a springer, i wouldn't have the facilities to strip it down and replace them without taking my face off when the spring goes BOIIIIING! Now, my Rapid would be a damned sight easier, I could do that in my man crap room with my tools, keeping it free of dust and lint and replace any seals before taking it down the gun shop for recalibration. Plus, if I wanted to upgrade it to an FAC, all I need to do is get my application in, get a locker, replace the barrel and some inner bits and bobs and I'd be in business. No need for a whole new rifle or there abouts!

PCP all the way, springer for fun shoots. You can hunt with one, but if you are new to the sport it is nice to have that quick back up shot, just in case. And sometimes it is necessary, I've had rabbits move just as I've squeezed a shot off, nothing you can do about it. They don't stay still forever!
