Advice wanted about courier services please.

I’ve got an item for sale elsewhere on the Internet and its rather heavy- 13 kg

I’ve had a look at the services from Royal Mail / Parcel force and it seems very expensive to me.

I have no experience with using couriers!

I have also been looking at buying things over the net that are collection only, (due to weight, not banned from posting items etc)

I’m looking for some reputable / inexpensive firms to deal with and a basic explanation of how it works.

Also if I wanted a parcel picking up from the other end of the country etc.

Basic insurance etc

(Item value is £250, if that helps)

thanks in advance for your help folks!!:D

The one piece of advice I'd give is never, ever use parcelforce.

In my roadie days I would use...

http://www.react-transport.co.uk/

I don't know what they are like now but back then they could move oddly shaped, heavy or unusual items around the country for a reasonable price.

:)

Hi
I have used www.parcel2go.com a few times in the past. You just book it online stating pickup address, delivery address, weight, dimensions etc & you can pay via credit card or Paypal.
They use people like TNT or Fedex for the actual collection & delivery, so they are reliable. I have not used them for a while, so I dont know about current prices, but they werent to bad in the past.

There are probably other similar websites out there. Hope that is of some help.

I have a lot of time for "interfreight shipping"
Was sick of Royal mail maoning about the length of bows and "doing me a favour" by sending them, then deciding not too the next week. Oh and charging me handsomely for the "favour"

Popped into my local interfreight and they had it there next day insured for £9 as opposed to RM`s £16
