Forgive my ignorance what's a knife like that used for??? And where does it originate from. Looks well made by the way 👍

It's a very common knife in the Northwest cost and artic regions. it is very popular among Inuit and other native Nations. It is very feasable and may by use for skinning and for cutting, chopping, even for squaring icve for igloos. Here you can find some more info

it is also seen in other parts of the world, but only in the kitchen. Normally labelled as a mezzaluna and these days having two handles instead of one, though ancient examples (especially Roman) are single handed and look more like a slanted ulu :)

Thank you Dave. I totally miss the similarity. The mezzaluna, however doesnt' have the purpose of skinning or chopping but she is used for mincing. The double handle permits very swift and ondulatory movements and is used very often for parsley, basil, garlic and so on. In Italy is still used a lot
