Had a tooth out. (Under sedation. Nothing to be scared of).

Dentist reccomends I use salt water for cleaning; very important at the moment.

I asked about mouthwash (I use Corsodyl) and they said that was good to but salt water is their first choice.

Its interesting that they are not trying to sell me anything. (I have heard the actual mouthwash they use (dont know its name) is pricey).

Your mouth contains bacteria that good for you as well as some that are not. Unless your doctor or dentist recommends a mouthwash, you don't need it, and just rinsing with salt water should be enough. I think it's more to do with making sure that food particles don't accumulate in the space left by the tooth that was pulled.

i used to use that when I had tonsillitis as a child.
I remember it as more viscous that the pink water but I’m very willing to be wrong.

Just had 2 wisdom teeth out, and my dentist suggested the following.
Saltwater 3 times a day, after meals to dislodge any food particles and to promote healing.
Common agrimony, twice a day in-between meals to promote healing.

Two wisdom teeth?

I had them all out when I was twenty or so. Some were giving me trouble but others were not.

I thought it was glycerin thymol ?
That stuff is disgusting, like Germoline flavoured oil.

Warm salt water is what the dentist recommends, the pink stuff we swilled with as kids wasn't salty at all, certainly not Himalayan Rock salt solution. Himalayan salt is the same as any other salt solution, I wouldn't go out of my way for pink salt water.

They were giving me some problems as one was growing down in to my lower jaw, unfortunately it was a difficult removal but out now so on the mend :)
Most of the info I found is salt water is the way to go, my dentist also said not to over do it with too much salt or too frequently, only breakfast, lunch and dinner.
I have added in one more though, when I brush in the morning I'm using salt water after.

Recommendation is to not rinse with anything after brushing your teeth - you want to leave the toothpaste on your teeth for as long as possible, and swishing just removes it unnecessarily.

I do normally leave it but it feels better at the moment using the salt water after the brush. Once it all returns to normal ill be back to no salt water and leaving it on.

Yeah, warm salt water's best.

Before I found a dentist I was doing DIY dentistry to have regular use of clove oil, peppermint oil and zinc oxide powder to at least know I can ' manage ' a dental issue off the beaten track, and did once when a crown collapsed in a desert country.

My sis-in-law, who is a dental surgeon swears by a dessert spoon of salt in boiling water. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with it as soon as it’s cool enough to tolerate. It has worked well for me many times.

And there is the offender.

Dunno if its a canine or a premolar; those teeth were jammed in a triangle hence the damage...couldnt get at it to clean.

(And the dentist tore their hair out over the X rays...couldnt see much).

The other teeth are in a poor state; going to the dentist to see if they can be saved.
