I like to get up early at weekends and yesterday was no different. There is a nature reserve near me that is being gradually transformed from a pine plantation to an inland bog through conservation grazing. The wildlife trust use different animals to eat different vegetation in order to allow a wider variety of species a chance to grow. They have also built a number of dams to retain water in the valley, resulting in a number of pools that flow into one another on the way through the site. It's absolutely beautiful there and at its best at the moment; rich, green and teeming with insects, full of foxgloves too. Unfortunately there is a lot of rhodedendron in the woods but even that looks nice when it's in flower.
