Since moving to the Lincolnshire fens, I have been interested to see the huge variation in wildlife from the Downland we are used to.

Today, I believe we spotted something I have wanted to see since moving here riding the wind over the back field. It had moved away before I could run in and grab my camera, so it s a poor photo and not as clear as we saw the bird in question.

I wonder if anyone might light to hazard an ID from this crummy photo?

Just for the sake of trying is it a Hen Harrier, Circus cyaneus? im going of the square tail and what looks like a short hooked beak, and your location being within there wintering area,

That was quick, shooting upwards against a bright sky quickly as it flew away, I couldn't photograph the markings well, but we think yes, a Marsh Harrier.

If so, very cool as I have not seen them before. It was only maybe 15' up on a bright day when it first flew over us and we got a pretty good look.
