Saturday started with a traditional Old Man fika gathering at a café, followed by a visit to
Bråviken bay together with my friend TB3, and after that I drove my adventure car into the
Wilderness. I had packed all my best gear and didn't even have one compromise with me,
other than various new items I wanted to test.

This was probably the last snow this year, so I wanted to make the best use of it.
-7 degrees celcius in the morning,

I drove north into Södermanland county and some properly remote area. Out here
there are no tracks what so ever and there were so much wet snow I could hear it
grind against the under carrage of my car. You really don't want the snow to get dragged
along and form a pillow under the car, so you get stuck, because there's no one out here
that can help you. The driving had to be very carefull...

Dusk is falling and I look back on my tracks.

Now I'm very much alone...

Two ravens are keeping me company and displays a wonderful combined air show,
aerial combat and mating play,

Now I've choosen my camp site and I have for once walked the snow flat where I'm
going to put my tent. Usually I just put the tent right on top of the snow, but now
the snow was too thick.

Dusk is falling slowly and with it also the temperature.

It's an absolutely crystal clear night sky with lots of stars, a full moon and so
unbelievably quiet you think your ears have been blocked.

Dubbelkorp-II-06.jpg

Supper with Drytec chicken curry, sandwiches and apple juice.

Dubbelkorp-II-07.jpg

Tradition dictates that I bring cola bottles candy that freezes and becomes like stone,
but melts satisfactory in ones mouth.

My contour pillow has also frozen and become hard as wood, but it also melts when
I lay on it for a while.

Dubbelkorp-II-09.jpg

I used my two thinnest Snugpak sleeping bags during the night and they kept a perfect
temperature balance all night.

The camo sack is on it's third set of zippers... I've used it for so long and so much.

Self-luminous Emergency Exit sign above the door, made of soft fabric. :)

The tent in the morning. Sledding and snow showel to the right.

The cloth is a Barracuda multi spectrum winter camouflage screen 422. Very light and
amazingly effective.

A great friend om mine had given me a pair of swedish army winter boots 90, which
I love, but sadly they died that day, because of the heel-comming-loose-sickness that
they are subjected to. It's a tragic manufacturing error that have made tens of thousands
pair of boots having to be thrown away. A real MoD scandal...

Today I threw away two pairs of those boots and I've earlier had to throw away two
more pairs. The only good thing about it was that the heel came loose when I were back
in town and not while I were in the wilderness.

If you're using a pulk you can bring lots of extra gear without trouble.

Here a pair of Egnared Wintertrack S3 Winter boots, that now have been tested and
used for the first time.

I have in some super natural way managed to get hold of the swedish MoD issued
black work gloves, that I used for the first time. I've also bought some crappy toy
quality gloves, just because of their splinter pattern, but they acctually were rather
good! Enough so that I will use them!

Dubbelkorp-II-14.jpg

A winter Taiga cap, that I mistakenly thougt had become too small and had to be
sawn larger, but acctually were a perfect fit.

Dubbelkorp-II-15.jpg

The tent I used was a Hilleberg Staika.

I've started packing and the tent ground stakes have been removed, which make
the tent look sloppy.

Dubbelkorp-II-16.jpg

The colours match perfectly between a Sacci LK-100 backpack and a Hilleberg MIL
colour tent bag.

Dubbelkorp-II-17.jpg

The MoD issue fibreglass pulk and a beaver nylon bag I've made for my skis and
ski poles.

Dubbelkorp-II-18.jpg

I use a harness that I've built my self for pulling the sledge. The army uses a harness
from 1938, which is not totally perfect.

Me.

Returning towards the car and following my old tracks.

Quite a beautiful day! :)

I am really crap at skiing with my old "Vita Blixten" / The White Flash army skis, so
I had also planned for a skiing trip, but it was getting late and my stamina was
getting not so good, so that trip will have to be postproned untill next time...

Love the emergency exit sign! :) Is that white cloth the actual flysheet or just thrown over the tent?

It's just thown over the top.

In military use it would be put a few inches above the tent, to hide the thermal
signature and also not have any even curve on the top, which resembes a tent,
but be much more varied in it's shape.
