I'd seen a few videos on YouTube, as you do, of penny stoves and thought to my self how simple they look! One video in particular was just under 6 minutes long from start to lit stove, and it really didn't seem that rushed. So, really, how hard can it be?

Well, if you have a cup of tea that need to cool, and maybe some toast to eat you can have a look (actually, it would be a pretty leisurely breakfast to watch it all. About half an hour from start to finish but it took a couple of goes to light).

Spoiler alert! It took me about 10 minutes to actualy make and I was really glad I lit it in a metal tray! Still, preheat is preheat, right?

Looks well and it works . As long as it makes a brew
Made a few with different designs, good way to waste a bit of time and raise the temperature in the shed a fair few degrees.
Try putting the coin on once it gets hot and starts coming out of the jets.
