A few bowls and spoons.

I haven't posted in a while but I have been busy with a few bowls and some small caddy spoons so I thought that I would post some pics.

Caddy spoons three made from Ash one from Birch.

A Willow ladle.

A bowl made from Cedrus atlantica.

A couple of bowls made from Alder.

and a couple from Lombardy Poplar.

Liking the poplar ones in particular. Not a wood I've ever had much joy with.

Sorry for the absolute beginner question (I'd like to start carving a lot!), but the wood you used for these beautiful crafts is dried or fresh cut?

The wood is usually fresh cut. It's softer and easier to work with hand tools.

Thanks, They are all done with axes, adzes, gouges and knife.

They are all carved when green.

Marvelous pieces Simon, a good thing to see after another hard days work, you really treated my eyes kindly, love them bowls especially the Cedar and the figured poplar one. Looking forward to getting some more time on my hands to start doing some of this work myself ^^

I really like the bowl, that is a nice piece of wood.
Have tried a spoon but snapped the handle half way though, nothing like yours though.
