The lower North Island and upper South Island in NZ had a pretty big quake of 6.5 yesterday just after 17.00 local time. I was swaying on my feet and my wife, who was upstairs was shaken about quite a bit ..... And we are a couple of hours away from Wellington where there was a fair bit of "light damage."
It got us thinking about being that much more prepared. I mean we have food, water set aside, tarps, firewood, gas BBQ etc etc but throughout the house and garage. Thinking of centralising stuff maybe, and also having a get home kit in the car. Hmmm. Decided we need more in the way of torches or lanterns, or perhaps one of those hand crank lamp radios? Probably the most important thing would be a plan.
Anyone serious about this stuff?
