Just got back from using my own DD Frontline hammock this weekend. The wind really tested it. This morning I was in Ashdown Forest and there was a real hooly blowing through.
My modifications are to add tabs to the sides to attach shock cord to act like a spreader (similar to the Hennessy.
Also I have permanently attached two pieces of old tent poles to the mossie net rather than attach sticks every time.
I have also made baffles for each end of the hammock as when the rain is coming in horizontally the hammock gets soaked. I used my Mountain Hardware tarp this weekend as the severe weather warning was issued as it is smaller than my usual tarps and shaped for the wind. The rain was horizontal and the wind was gusting over 40mph so the baffles really helped.

The only othe modification was to replace the tape and use them as tree huggers. At the ends of the hammock some old rope was used to attach a karabiner that attach to the tree huggers. I now use two karabiners on each side as is shown in the DD site.
Cheers
